What options should I get on the 2019 Buick Encore?

The 2019 Buick Encore is a small luxury crossover, yet it has plenty of space. There are no major changes for this year model. It has a refined ride, attractive styling, and a high-quality interior. It has the following trim designs: Base, Preferred, Preferred 11, Sport Touring, and Premium trims. The base trim includes satellite radio, OnStar, and power accessories. The more expensive trims add a premium sound system, heated leather seats, and more technology. The Essence trim is the ideal choice because it features rear cross-traffic alerts, heated seats, and a host of desired technology features at an affordable price. All models can be purchased with either with front or all-wheel-drive drive-trains except the base which is only available in front wheel drive. All trims feature a six-speed automatic transmission. The Encore has two available engines. A 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, and a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with an electronic push-button ignition which optional on most trims. The latter engine is the best choice because it has more horsepower.

The new Encore has a tall stance and a unique high-end appearance. It also has a nice blend of smooth lines and curves. The somewhat square hood and roof have a throwback look. The elegant interior makes you feel like you are in a more expensive vehicle. The center of the dash has a conveniently placed 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. All of the cabin controls are easily accessed. The Essence trim is the best option for styling.

The Buick Encore provides a very quiet ride whether you are on the highway or around town. The standard engine has 138-hp, while the optional engine has 153-hp. The standard engine has adequate power, but you will enjoy the additional power of the optional engine. The 18-inch wheels provide excellent traction and handling on smooth or bumpy roads.

Comfort and Quality

The Buick Encore is one of the most comfortable and well-built crossovers in its class. Despite not having a central armrest, the front seats provide excellent support and comfort. The Encore has 19 cubic feet of cargo space that can be increased to 48 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded down. The cabin is designed with premium materials and has a variety of color options. All models have quality cloth cabins except the Essence, which features a leather interior. The glass is made of sound deadening materials that contribute to a noise-free cabin.

The Encore is a very safe vehicle. Although the 2019 model has yet to be tested by federal or private testers, it is expected to have the same scores as the 2018 model. The government’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration(NHTSA) gave the 2018 model an overall score of five stars, which is the highest rating. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety(IIHS) gave the same model mostly good scores, which is the organizations highest rating.

The base and Preferred trims are very similar. Some standard features include automatic headlights, keyless entry, keyless ignition, cruise, heated mirrors, air conditioning, power driver’s seat, and roof rails. The technology suite includes a backup camera, Bluetooth, USB ports, smartphone integration for Android and Apple, OnStar, Wi-Fi, and a six-speaker stereo system. What sets the Preferred apart from the base is floor mats, a cargo cover, and additional available options. The options for the Preferred are safety aids and remote start. For added safety, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert should be purchased with this trim. The Sport Touring trim has the features of the Preferred plus foglights and a rear spoiler.

The Essence is the top trim for the Encore. It steps up to LED headlights, leather interior, power passenger seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, 120-volt power outlet, blind-spot warning, rear traffic alert, and heated front seats. There are a host of options for the Essence to include automatic wipers, parking sensors, front collision alert, upgraded cabin filter, and lane departure warning. GPS navigation and a premium seven-speaker Bose stereo system is available for the Sport Touring and Essence trims. A sunroof is available for all models except the base.

You should purchase all of the optional items if possible. The automatic wipers will give you the convenience of hands-free wiper control. The front and rear parking sensors can assist you in parking, especially in tight spaces. The upgraded cabin filter will supply the cabin with the cleanest air. This can be beneficial for people with allergy conditions. The forward collision alert will provide warnings of an impending front crash. Lane departure warning can help prevent accidents if you drift into a lane with another vehicle in the way. You can’t really put a price on safety. GPS navigation is a nice option to have because it can aid you in your travels whether its local or on trips. If you enjoy quality sound, the Bose system can make you feel like you are sitting in a theater. The sunroof adds to the overall appearance of the vehicle and allows you to get sunlight and fresh air into the vehicle without opening the windows.
